The 30-year-old goalkeeper is surplus to requirement at City, and have been told to find another club after spending last season away from the Etihad, on loan to Torino.

The English international told West Ham TV: “It’s important for me to play football and to get the opportunity to come here and play is absolutely awesome,”

Joe Hart, who won two Premier League title with the Citizens, becomes the second City player to make the London switch after West Ham signed Hart’s former team-mate Pablo Zabaleta.
