Cricket: NCF Lists 14 For ICC U19 World Cup Africa Qualifiers In Rwanda

The Nigeria Cricket Federation has announced a final list of 14 players that will represent Nigeria at the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup Africa Qualifiers in Rwanda.

The ‘’Dream Team 2’’ have been in camp in Abuja for the last month where 25 invited players were pruned to the final 14 following intense training sessions and trial matches. The final 14 will be in a closed camp in preparation for the tournament which holds from 30 September to 7 October in Kigali.

The 2022 ICC U19 World Cup is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and Nigeria will battle Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, and others for Africa’s single qualification slot.

Nigeria made history in 2019 by beating incredible odds to qualify for the ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa – the country’s first-ever participation at a Cricket World Cup at any level in over 100 years of the sport’s history in Nigeria. The Dream Team 2 will look to equal that feat and do the nation proud once more.

The only surviving member of the history-making 2019 team Emmanuel Ochie Boniface has been named captain of the 2021 team to be assisted by Prosper Useni. Development player attached with the last team Nzube Nwokike also makes the cut.
