Coppa Italia Watch: Milan, Fiorentina Into Quarters

AC Milan and Fiorentina have qualified for the last eight of the Coppa Italia following wins over Hellas Verona and Sampdoria respectively.

Suso and Alessio Romagnoli gave AC Milan a 2-0 first half lead before young striker Patrick Cutrone netted in the second half to wrap up a dominant 3-0 home victory over Hellas Verona.

Forentina needed two penalties from former Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout to beat stubborn Sampdoria 3-2 at home.

Sriker Khouma Babacar’s early strike was cancelled out by Sampdoria forward Edgar Barreto before Veretout’s first penalty goal made it 2-1 to the home side. Gaston Ramirez levelled matters for Sampdoria but another Veretout penalty goal on the stroke of fulltime was enough to send Fiorentina into the last eight.

AC Milan will now face rivals Inter Milan in what would be a Milan Derby quarterfinal clash while Fiorentina battle the winner of Thursday’s game between Lazio and lowly Cittadella.
