Commonwealth Games Update: Aminat Adeniyi Leads Nigeria To Gold Medal No.9 As Women’s Relays Produce Medals

Wrestler Aminat Adeniyi has won gold medal no. 9 for Team Nigeria after she got the better of Michelle Fazzari of Canada in the final of women’s 62kg freestyle at the ongoing Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia on Saturday.

Adeniyi won gold by beating Fazzari 4-0 before she retired with an injury.

It has been a fruitful day for Team Nigeria on the medal front after winning silver and bronze in the 4X400m (women) and 4X100m (women) respectively.

Nigeria won silver medal in the women’s 4X400m relay race behind Jamaica and ahead of Botswana.

In the women’s 4X100m relay race, the quartet of Oluwatobiloba Amusan, Joy Udo Gabriel, Blessing Okagbare and Rosemary Chukwuma won bronze with a time of 42.75 secs.
