City Overpower Stubborn Bristol City To Secure Carabao Cup Final Place

Premier League leaders Manchester City have secured their place in the Carabao Cup Final after they held off stubborn Championship outfit Bristol City 5-3 on aggregate.

With the Citizens leading 2-1 from the first leg at home, winger Leroy Sane extended that advantage with a first half strike before in-form Argentine striker Sergio Aguero added a second goal some minutes after the interval.

City’s second goal prompted an admirable comeback from the hosts with Andrew Flint pulling one back on 64 minutes before Marlon Pack equalised for Lee Johnson’s side with fulltime approaching.

Any hopes of taking the semi-final tie to extra time was however extinguished in added time by Kevin De Bruyne, who celebrated his new contract extension in style, for a 3-2 Manchester City win in their second leg clash.

Manchester City will now meet the winner of Wednesday’s second semi-final between two London sides Arsenal and Chelsea in the final slated for the Wembley Stadium on February 25.
