
Marin Cilic has won his second title at the Fever-Tree Championships at the Queen’s club after he recovered to beat former world number one in three sets.
The 29-year-old Croat defeated Djokovic 5-7 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 in the longest final in the history of the tournament (2 hours and 57 minutes) to add to his 2012 title.
Marin Cilic described the win as a special one. He said: “It was a special win for me because last year I had a match point and didn’t convert it.”
“It was a tough match, with no breaks for me until the final set.” He added.
On his part, Djokovic said: “I have to congratulate Marin on a fantastic week.”
“He deserved to win and came up with some big shots. It’s a tough loss for me. But I have to see the positive because I haven’t played a final in almost a year.” He concluded.
