Chelsea Thrash Huddersfield Town In Season Opener

The new Maurizio Sarri era at Chelsea got off to a great start in the Premier League following their 3-0 win over hosts Huddersfield Town at the John Smith Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante gave the Blues a 34th minute lead before new signing Jorginho added a second goal from the spot after Spanish defender Marcos Alonso was fouled in the Huddersfield Town box.

It was the Italian midfielder’s first goal for the former Champions League winners since his £57m transfer from Napoli.

Pedro wrapped up the win with ten minutes left to send the Stamford Bridge outfit to the top of the Premier League table.

In one of the other afternoon kickoffs, Fulham were beaten 2-0 in their London Derby home clash with Crystal Palace.

Ghanaian international Jeffrey Schlupp and Wilfried Zaha scored either side of halftime to condemn the Cottagers to defeat on their return to the top flight after a four-year absence.

Welsh side Cardiff City also suffered a 2-0 loss to Bournemouth in their first game back in the Premier League after a four-year absence.

Ryan Fraser gave Bournemouth a first half lead before Callum Wilson secured the victory for the home side in the second half as he atoned for his early penalty miss in the 34th minute.

In final game, Argentine midfielder Roberto Pereyra scored a goal in each half to hand Watford a 2-0 home win over Brighton.
