CAS To Give Verdict On FIFA, Palestinian Federation Rift ‘Within Weeks’

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has confirmed that a verdict would be given on the rift between world football’s governing body, FIFA and the Palestinian Soccer Federation.

The federation challenging the football body for shutting down debate on a dispute with the Israeli federation.

According to CAS, a scheduled two-day appeal hearing started on Tuesday.

The arbitration body also revealed that a ruling will be made within weeks.

FIFA rules do not allow a federation to organise games on the territory of another federation without permission.

The rule prompted Palestinian officials to urge FIFA to act against Palestinian teams playing in the Israeli league without permission.

FIFA had earlier delayed a decision on the dispute at its congress in May 2017 before the body’s president Gianni Infantino decided to end efforts to mediate between the two federations (Israeli soccer federation and Palestinian soccer federation).
