Carl Ikeme To Be Offered Super Eagles Coaching Role

Retired Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme will be offered a coaching role with the team according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The decision to offer him a coaching role was revealed by the body’s General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi who also disclosed that the 32-year-old will be sent on a coaching course before being integrated into the Super Eagles technical crew setup.

Carl Ikeme announced his retirement from football on medical advice last week having recently gone into complete remission after chemotherapy treatment for acute leukemia.

He was diagnosed with the dreaded Cancer before the start of last season.

Mohammed Sanusi spoke about Carl Ikeme and a potential Super Eagles coaching role in a statement released on Sunday.

He said: “The NFF will find the resources to send Carl Ikeme on a coaching course, and afterwards absorb him into the technical crew of the Super Eagles.”

“That is the least we can do for such a dedicated patriot.

“He was an embodiment of absolute dedication, commitment and patriotic fervour in the games that he played for the Super Eagles.

“The circumstances of his retirement from the game are somewhat depressing, even as we thank God for his life.” He concluded.
