Carl Ikeme Laments World Cup Absence

Super Eagles goalkeeper has disclosed that he is devastated about missing out on the Super Eagles squad ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Wolverhampton Wanderers goal minder Carl Ikeme was the first choice goalkeeper with Gernot Rohr’s team until he was diagnosed with acute leukemia.

He is presently recovering from the dreaded disease after undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Carl Ikeme expressed how he feels about missing out on the World Cup via Twitter as he said: “To say I’m devastated about missing the World Cup is an understatement. But I just want to thank everyone in Nigeria for their prayers, love and messages.”

“I can’t explain how much they mean to me. I also want to wish my teammates, coaches and NFF luck for the summer coming.” the tweet stated further.
