Carabao Cup Review: Nottingham Eliminate Newcastle In Dramatic Fashion As Everton & Watford Go Through

Premier League outfit Newcastle United have been knocked out of this season’s Carabao Cup in the wake of their dramatic 3-1 loss in the second round clash at the City Ground on Wednesday night.

Former Sunderland and Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy gave eve English Championship side the lead as early as the second minute and that was how it stayed until summer signing Salomon Rondon equalised for the Magpies with two minutes of added time gone.

Newcastle United thereafter imploded as Matty Cash edged the hosts ahead with four added time minutes gone before Portuguese forward Gil Dias wrapped up the win in the 96th minute.

Other Premier League sides Everton and Watford didn’t encounter much resistance on the way to booking a third round spot.

Everton defeated Championship side Rotherham United 3-1 at home through a Gylfi Sigurdsson strike and two goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

On the other hand, London side Watford won 2-0 at the home of Reading with goals from Isaac Success and Domingos Quina either side of halftime.

In the last game on Wednesday, Championship side Milwall saw off Plymouth Argyle 3-2 at home to secure a place alongside the aforementioned trio in the third round of the competition.
