Nigerian duo Alex Iwobi and Odion Ighalo will face off in the quarterfinals of the English League Cup after Everton were drawn at home to Manchester United.
The Toffees saw off West Ham in the previous round with Iwobi notching an assist while Ighalo, yet to get off the mark this season, started as Manchester United sealed their last eight place with victory over Brighton.
The standout tie of the last eight sees holders Manchester City taking on Arsenal at the Emirates. The Gunners progressed to the last eight with a penalties win over Liverpool while City saw off Burnley to book their spot.
Tottenham who beat Chelsea on penalties in the previous round are away to Championship side Stoke City who have former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel on their books. The Potters dumped out Premier League side Aston Villa to make the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Championship side Brentford’s reward for beating Fulham is a home tie against Newcastle United in the club’s first ever League Cup quarterfinal. Newcastle booked their quarterfinals spot with a penalties win over Newport County.
All quarter-final ties are to be played the week commencing 21 December 2020.
