CAFCL: Qualifying For The Group Stage Is ‘Possible’ – Abd’Allah (AUDIO)

Enyimba coach Usman Abd’Allah has said qualifying for the group stage of this season’s CAF Champions League is not beyond his side, stating that ‘it is possible’.

The People’s Elephant must record an outright win or a score draw against Al Hilal of Sudan in Omdurman on Sunday to advance to the group stage of the competition, following a scoreless first leg, first round fixture in Aba, a fortnight ago.

Speaking before his team departed Nigeria for Sudan on Thursday, Abd’Allah said he is ‘sure’ Enyimba will book a place in the money-spinning stage of the competition they won twice in 2003 and 2004.

“We are ready, we are going there, and we are sure we will qualify for the group stage,” a confident Abd’Allah said.

“I don’t think it’s impossible, it is possible. People are seeing the task as very difficult, just the way they saw the task difficult for them (Al Hilal) when they came to Aba.

“So, it’s football. We are working so hard and we are confident that we are going to come out with a good result.

“The mission is to qualify for the group stage.”

Meanwhile, Enyimba arrived Khartoum around 1am (local time) on Friday morning ahead of Sunday’s clash at the 65, 000 capacity Omdurman stadium.

Kickoff is slated for 6:30pm Nigerian Time (7:30pm in Sudan) on Sunday.

Aggregate winners of the two-legged tie will advance to the group stage of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.
