CAFCL: Lobi Stars Bow To ASEC In Abidjan

Nigeria’s Lobi Stars succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Ivorian giants, ASEC Mimosas in Match Day 2 of the 2018/19 CAF Champions League.

Hamed Diomande converted a 38th minute penalty to hand the 1998 champions all three points in Abidjan.

The defeat is the third in as many away games for Lobi Stars, who previously lost to UMS de Loum of Cameroon (0-1) and Kenyan giants, Gor Mahia (1-3) in the earlier rounds of the competition.

Despite the loss, Lobi remain second in Group A with 3 points, enjoying a better goal difference than ASEC who were hammered 5-2 by Wydad Casablanca a week ago.

The Makurdi-based side will now face Wydad in a double-header next month in continuation of the round-robin group phase.
