CAFCC: Rivers United Get N2m Boost To Beat Bloemfontein Celtic

Owner of Nigeria National League (NNL) side Go Round FC Felix Obuah has promised Rivers United the sum of Two Million Naira (N2m) if they defeat Bloemfontein Celtic in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup first round tie on Wednesday in South Africa.

The Pride of Rivers are already in the Rainbow nation for Wednesday’s tie against Siwelele at the Dr. Petrus Molemela stadium, with aggregate winners advancing to the playoff stage of the competition.

Should the match end in a draw, the former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in Rivers State has also pledged One Million Naira (N1m) to Stanley Eguma’s men, with an additional Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) for each goal they score against Celtic, the club said in a statement.

Rivers United, just like Celtic, needed the lottery of penalties to see off debutants Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea in the previous round of the competition.

Eguma’s men beat the Equatoguineans 2-0 via penalties after aggregate scoreline stood at 3-3, while John Maduka’s side eliminated AS Maniema Union of the Democratic Republic of Congo 3-2 (2-2agg.) during the shootout.
