CAFCC: Injury Blow For Enyimba as Afelokhai, Anaemena, 4 Others Miss Paradou Clash

Enyimba have been dealt a huge injury blow as the Nigerian champions will be without first choice goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai, defence stalwarts Ifeanyi Anaemena and Nelson Ogbonnaya, midfielders Dare Olatunji and Thomas Zenke, as well as striker Reuben Bala, for their CAF Confederation Cup Match Day 3 tie against Algerian side Paradou AC in Algiers on Sunday, 29 December.

The six players will not travel for the fixture due to various degrees of injuries that have ruled them out.

Similarly, captain of the Aba giants Andrew Abalogu, goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode and defender Austin Opara, who will be travelling with the squad, are doubtful for the tie as they are still recuperating from injuries.

However, in-form striker Victor Mbaoma, who has scored six consecutive goals for the club is in the travelling party to face Paradou.

The People’s Elephant are currently in Ota, Ogun State finalizing strategies ahead of their trip to Algiers.

Enyimba, who are placed second in Group D face the Algerian outfit, who are bottom of the pool with a solitary point, as they seek qualification for the quarter-finals of the competition.

The 2018 semi-finalists are expected to depart Nigeria for Algeria by 1am (local time) on Friday morning via the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
