CAFCC: Enyimba Banking On New Turf To Beat CARA – Mfon Udoh (AUDIO)

Enyimba captain Mfon Udoh says the People’s Elephant will be banking on their brand new artificial turf to beat Congolese side CARA Brazzaville, and advance to the quarter finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2-time CAF Champions League winners will on Wednesday be playing for the first time in Aba in almost 3 years following renovation work at the traditional ground which now has an astro playing surface.

“It’s a very nice turf, very big, very spacious,” Udoh told a pre-match press conference on Tuesday. “We have trained on it, and I think we have adapted to it.

“And it is going to be a plus for us playing once again behind our home fans, the crowd and everybody cheering us up, unlike in the past years when we played away from home.

“So I think it is an added advantage to us, and I think we are going to utilize that opportunity,” the NPFL record man said.

Enyimba currently occupy 2nd spot in Group C with 9 points, same as leaders CARA whom they face on Wednesday in Aba. And with Ivorian side Williamsville expected to beat already eliminated Djoliba of Mali at home, Usman Abd’Allah’s men must beat the Congolese side to advance to the last 8 of the competition.
