CAFCC: Debutants Kano Pillars Suffer Chastening Loss At ASC Jaraaf

Kano Pillars suffered a chastening loss in their CAF Confederation Cup debut as they were beaten 3-1 by Senegalese side ASC Jaraaf in the first leg of the preliminary round at the Stade Demba Diop on Saturday.

The loss leaves Pillars with a considerable challenge ahead of the return leg at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on 5 December.

Pillars started the more enterprising of the sides and took a shock lead through David Ebuka’s header in the fifth minute.

The hosts were not behind for long and restored parity twelve minutes later through Zaky Bassene before edging ahead in the 38th minute when Samba Dialo headed past goalie Suraj Ayeleso.

Lubasse Gulye added a third in the 80th minute to seal the win for Jaraaf and give them a healthy cushion ahead of the return leg.
