CAFCC: Bayelsa United Battered In Sfax

Bayelsa United were dumped out of the CAF Confederation Cup after a 4-0 thrashing by home side CS Sfaxien in the second leg of their second round qualifier on Saturday.

The second-tier Nigerian side led 1-0 from last week’s first leg but were always up against it at the home of the record winners of the competition who raced to a 4-0 lead before half time.

Chris Kouakou put the Tunisians ahead after eleven minutes and it was downhill from there for Bayelsa United as Mohamed Ben Ali, Aymen Harzi and Firas Chaouat added further goals to put Sfaxien out of sight.

No further goals followed after the interval as the home side eased to a comfortable win which takes them to the group stage.

For Bayelsa United, it’s an end to a fairy tale run that started from their giant-killing exploits as they won the Aiteo Cup.
