Kano Pillars head coach Ibrahim Musa says he is very confident the 4-time Nigerian champions will beat hosts Asante Kotoko this weekend and advance to the next round of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League.

The Sai Masu Gida, who secured an unimpressive 3-2 home win against 2-time African Champions Kotoko about a fortnight ago, are up against the Ghanaians this weekend at the famous Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, and are hoping to avoid an early exit from the competition.

In an exclusive chat with www.busybuddiesng.com before the 2010 semi-finalists departed Abuja for Kumasi on Friday, Musa informed that Pillars are ready for the clash, adding that his players are all fit and good to go.

“We prepared well and by the grace of God we are going to win,” Musa, who led Pillars to a maiden AITEO Cup title last month, said. “We are not going there looking for a draw. We know we have to advance with a win or a draw, so we are going for the win just as we won in Nigeria.

Asked how confident he is about his side’s chances of defeating The Porcupine Warriors in Ghana, Musa said: “You know what will give me confidence? If you look at the goals we scored [in the first leg], we exposed our opponents’ defence and we scored three goals, no penalty, no set pieces, and we scored three goals.

“The two goals we conceded (from the first leg) were from set-pieces, one from [a corner kick], one from [a] freekick. This is to show you that if we seal our defence, we cannot concede two goals [in Ghana].”

The all-important reverse fixture comes up on Sunday in Kumasi, with the winners on aggregate advancing to the first round of the competition.
