Enyimba yesterday defeated fellow Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Delta Force 1-0 in Aba to wrap up preparations for their crucial 2nd leg preliminary round CAF Champions fixture against debutants Rahimo of Burkina Faso.
Midfielder Austin Oladapo grabbed the lone goal courtesy of a well-taken freekick just before the hour mark in a game Enyimba largely dominated.
The 2-time CAF Champions winners had earlier defeated Diamond Stars of Calabar 4-0 on Thursday and outscored Wilbros FC of Port Harcourt 5-3, building up to the make-or-mar tie against the Burkinabes.
The People’s Elephant surprisingly lost the first leg to the Burkina Faso champions 1-0 in Ouagadougou, and must now overturn the deficit to advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
The second leg has been slated for Sunday, 25th August at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
