CAF CC: Enyimba Beat TS Galaxy, Rangers Lose At ASC Kara In 1st Leg Playoff

Enyimba will take a two goal lead to South Africa after they beat TS Galaxy 2-0 in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff round on Sunday.

Victor Mbaoma opened the scoring at the Enyimba Stadium in the 7th minute with his first goal for the club after good work from Bashir Abdulrahman.

Second half substitute Martins Usule added the second in the 60th minute twelve minutes after coming on to give the Yaba side a two goal cushion.

TS Galaxy who play in the second tier of South African league football fashioned a couple of chances but found Theophilus Afelokhai impregnable in goal for Enyimba.

Enyimba would look to complete the job when they travel to South Africa on 3 November for the second leg with a place in the competition’s group stage at stake.

Elsewhere, Nigeria’s other representative Rangers International grabbed a precious away goal at Togolese champions ASC Kara although they could have had a draw but conceded in added time to lose 2-1.

Ifeanyi George had leveled from the spot in the 32nd minute for Rangers after Kara had taken a 28th minute lead and with the game headed for a draw, Richard Nene popped up with the winner for the Lome side in added time to give Kara the advantage ahead of the second leg next Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
