Police have arrested a man who tries to carjack three unidentified footballers on their way home from training in New Mexico.

21-year-old Angelo Martinez, who stopped the three players on their way home from training at Loma Linda Community Center, asked for a ride and later pointed a gun at the footballers at his drop-off point.

Noticing that Martinez had fumbled the gun, one of the footballers punched him and was later joined by the others in beating Martinez up before the police officers arrived.

The gun was later found to be fake.
