Schalke 04 and visitors Bayer Leverkusen played out a 1-1 draw in their league clash at the Gelsenkirchen Arena on Friday night.

Highly rated German midfielder Leon Goretzka scored the opening goal in the 34th minute before Jamaican striker Leon Bailey earned a point for his team in the second half with his first goal since his €20m move from Belgian side Genk during the winter transfer window.

The draw takes struggling Leverkusen two places up the German Bundesliga table from 10th to 8th position with 8 points while Schalke 04 stay in 7th spot after accumulating 10 points from 7 league matches this season.
