Relegation battlers Mainz 05 produced a shocking result after they saw off their hosts Hertha Berlin 2-0 in their Matchday 23 league clash to boot their hopes of escaping the drop.

Swedish star midfielder Robin Quaison was the hero for the away side as he scored twice either side of halftime to lead his team to an unlikely victory over massive favourites Hertha Berlin.

The victory was not enough to move Mainz (23 points) out of the relegation playoff spot (16th), however, they are within goal difference of Werder Bremen (23 points) who occupy the last automatic spot for safety.

On the other hand, Hertha Berlin (30 points) stay in 11th position ahead of the other set of Matchday 23 games on Saturday and Sunday.
