Bundesliga Review: Dortmund Secure Second Spot With Tough Win At Gladbach

Borussia Dortmund have moved into second spot following their slim 1-0 win over their hosts Borussia Moenchengladbach in their Matchday 23 clash on Sunday evening.

Marco Reus, who recently returned from injury, was the matchwinner for Dortmund as he scored on 32 minutes to gift his side the three points at stake though goalkeeper Roman Burki stole the show with several saves to help his team preserve their lead until the end of the game.

The latest success ensures that new coach Peter Stoger is the first Borussia Dortmund boss to oversee eight Bundesliga games without defeat.

Dortmund (40 points) climb above RB Leipzig (38 points) and Bayer Leverkusen (38 points) into second place behind league leaders Bayern Munich (59 points) while Borussia Moenchengladbach stay in 10th place with 31 points.

In the other league game played on Sunday, VfB Stuttgart took a giant step towards safety following their 1-0 win at Augsburg.

The win was enough to lift the newly promoted outfit (27 points) three places up from 14th to 11th spot and four points clear of the relegation playoff place while Augsburg stay in 8th place with 31 points from 23 league games.
