Bundesliga: Jamilu Collins Unlucky, Havertz Impressive, Dortmund Rein In Bayern

Super Eagles left-back Jamilu Collins put on an impressive showing for Paderborn but the Bundesliga basement side were unlucky to only draw 1-1 at home to 9th-place Hoffenheim.

The home side were looking to build on the impressive point at Fortuna Dusseldorf last weekend but found themselves trailing to a fourth-minute Robert Skov goal.

Dennis Srbeny scored a quick equaliser to put the hosts on level terms five minutes later.

Paderborn went close to the winner on numerous occasions but Oliver Baumann in goal for Hoffenheim ensured the visitors left with a share of the spoils.

Steffen Baumgart’s side are now rapidly running out of games to stave off relegation after 16th-placed Werder Bremen secured an impressive victory at 7th-placed Freiburg courtesy of Leonardo Bittencourt’s first-half winner.

Kai Havertz scored a second straight brace for Borussia Monchengladbach who leapfrogged Bayer Leverkusen into third-place with an impressive 3-1 win at Borussia-Park.

The 20-year-old midfielder opened the scoring after nine minutes and added a second – his 10th in Bundesliga – from the spot in the 58th-minute after Marcus Thuram equalised for the hosts six minutes earlier.

Sven Bender added a third for the visitors to make the points secure.

The much sought after Havertz who is yet to miss a penalty in his career has now scored more goals before his 21st birthday than any player in Bundesliga history.

Borussia Dortmund moved within a point of leaders Bayern Munich with goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Achraf Hakimi either side of halftime handing them a 2-0 victory over Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.

Leaders Bayern Munich host 13th-placed Eintracht Frankfurt in the day’s late kickoff.
