Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele Will Not Play Again This Year

Barcelona’s youngster Ousmane Dembele will not play again this year as scans have shown that the player has ruptured a tendon in his left thigh and will be out for around four months.

20-year-old Dembele, who joined the Catalan club from Dortmund last month for around €105M, pulled his hamstring in the first half of Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Getafe on Saturday.

“Tests have confirmed that first team player Ousmane Dembele has ruptured the tendon in his femoral bicep in his left thigh,” Barcelona said in an official statement.

“The player will be operated on by Dr. Sakari Orava in Finland this week. He is expected to be out for between three and a half months and four months.”

The injury also means Dembele will not be available for the remainder of Barcelona’s Champions League group stages matches.
