BREAKING: Kidnappers Reportedly Release Samuel Kalu’s Mother

The mother of Super Eagles’ and Bordeaux of France winger Samuel Kalu, Mrs. Juliet Ozuruonye Kalu who was kidnapped has been released, former Super Eagles Media Officer, Colin Udoh tweeted.

Mrs. Kalu was abducted by unknown gunmen while driving along Okpulu Umuobo area in the city of Aba, Anambra State on February 27th according to several reports including that of The Guardian.

Reports had it that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of 50 million Naira but later raised the amount after being aware that Samuel is a professional footballer.

According to Colin who now works for Kwesé Sports, Super Eagles Gaffer Gernot Rohr was immensely of help psychologically and otherwise to the 21-year-old.

“Unknown Gernot Rohr spent practically every minute of this period with the forward. When he wasn’t with him, he was on the phone.
The little things that connect people. Humans first, professionals second.” He tweeted.

Inspite of the incidence, Samuel played 72 minutes in Bordeaux’s 1-0 loss to Nantes on Sunday.
