Birmingham City Sacks Harry Redknapp

Birmingham City have sacked manager Harry Redknapp after losing six straight games in all competitions.

70-year-old Redknapp, who signed 14 players during the summer transfer window, joined the club three games to the end last season, saving the Blues from relegation with victories in the last two matches.

“Unfortunately due to the poor start to the campaign which sees the club second from bottom of the Championship, we are left with no choice but to terminate the contract of the manager with immediate effect.” An official statement from the club read.

“We thank him for all his efforts and wish him good luck for the future. There will be no further comment at this time.”

The former Portsmouth and Tottenham manager becomes the first managerial casualty of the Championship this season with barely five months in charge of Birmingham City.
