BFN Congratulates Opeyori On Nigeria Sports Awards Feat

The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has commended Anuoluwapo Opeyori for scooping two awards at the recently held 2019 Nigeria Sports Award in Lagos.

Nigeria and Africa’s sensation, Opeyori won the “Racquet Sportsperson of the Year” award and capped a fantastic night with the coveted “Sportsman of the Year” award.

The accolades capped an extraordinary year for Opeyori in which became the first Nigerian in over a decade to win individual gold in Badminton at the African Games in Morocco. He also struck gold in the men’s doubles.

The annual event is aimed at honouring deserving individuals and stakeholders in sports who have excelled within the period including administrators, political figures, sports teams, athletes and journalists.

President of the BFN, Francis Orbih, who won the Sports Administrator of the Year in 2018 said Opeyori deserved the award after the giant strides he has made in the sport in recent years.

Orbih predicted a bright future for the prodigy and assured him and other players of the BFN’s continuous support.

Opeyori has in recent times, especially under the current Orbih led BFN board, been steadily climbing the ladder of success in Nigeria, Africa and the global stage.

Like a well oiled machine on cruise control, young Opeyori has maintained steady dominance in the country and continent.

With his zeal, passion, strength, skills, experience, exposure, fighting spirit and of course, youth, he is set to be on top for some more years to come.
