Bayern Munich have qualified for a 7th successive quarterfinal spot after they thrashed Turkish outfit Besiktas 8-1 on aggregate in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) round of 16 tie.
The German champions had won the 1st leg 5-0 at the Allianz Arena to all but render the second leg in Turkey inconsequential.
Thiago Alcantara gave Bayern a 1st half lead before a Gokhan Gonul own goal doubled their lead just after halftime.
Besiktas pulled one back through Vagner Love just before the hour mark before Sandro Wagner wrapped up the win for the visitors with six minutes left to give Bayern a 3-1 win in the 2nd leg.
Bayern Munich have now joined other teams like Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Sevilla, Juventus and AS Roma in the last eight draw scheduled for Friday.
