Barcelona Secure Lenglet Transfer From Sevilla

Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona have signed French defender Clement Lenglet from fellow top flight side Sevilla.

Lenglet, 23, has penned a five-year deal with the Nou Camp giants after Barcelona paid his €35m (£31/$41) release clause.

His transfer was confirmed by Barcelona on Wednesday afternoon as he becomes the club’s second signing of the summer after Brazilian midfielder Arthur joined the five-time European champions from Gremio on Monday.

The centre back has a release clause of €300m (£264m/$350m) in his Barcelona contract.

Clement Lenglet joined Sevilla from French side Nancy in January 2017 and went on to establish himself as one of the most sought-after defender in Europe.

He scored 4 goals in 70 appearances for the former UEFA Europa League (UEL) winners.

He’s yet to be capped by France at senior level though he has represented the U21 team on ten occasions.
