Barcelona Forward, Asisat Oshoala Suffers Injury Setback

FC Barcelona Forward, Asisat Oshoala trod off the pitch injured after putting up a good performance in her team’s record breaking match against Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

It was the first time in the history of women football that over 60,000 fans gathered to watch a club match as the Iberdrola defeated their opponents from Madrid 2 – 0.

The former African Women Footballer of the year opened scoring in the 65th minute, seven minutes before she was brought off the pitch for Toni Duggan after picking an injury.

The severity of the injury has not been announced by the club but it is likely, the Nigerian International might not be available for Barcelona’s Champions League quarterfinal game against Norwegian side, LSK Kvinner on Wednesday.

Oshoala has scored four (5) goals since her loan arrival at the Spanish side from Chinese club, Dalian Quanjian.

For the 24-year-old who is hoping to seal a permanent deal the club, the injury might sideline her for a while.

“Tough for me to take but I will be back soon, stronger and even better.” She tweeted.
