Barcelona Defender Marlon Santos Joins Sassuolo In €6m Deal

Brazilian defender Marlon Santos has completed his transfer to Italian Serie A side Sassuolo from Barcelona.

The 22-year-old centre back joins Sassuolo from the Nou Camp giants after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract in a €6m deal.

His contract includes a buyback clause inserted by the Nou Camp giants.

The ex-Brazilian U20 international initially joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Serie A side Fluminense in June 2016.

He made his Barcelona debut against Scottish Premier League (SPL) champions Celtic as a 72nd minute for Spanish defender Gerard Pique on November 23, 2016.

After impressing in a Barcelona shirt, his move was made permanent as he signed a four-year contract for a transfer fee of €5m.

Marlon Santos signed for French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice on a two-year loan contract last summer with the option to buy permanently for €20m.

He went on to make 23 league appearances but his loan deal was terminated at the end of last season.
