Bale’s Homecoming Ends In Nightmare As Spurs Capitulate Against West Ham

Gareth Bale’s long awaited second debut for Tottenham ended in disastrous fashion as his entrance coincided with a capitulation that saw West Ham fightback from three goals to earn a point.

Spurs led by first half goals from Son Heung-min and a Harry Kane brace and looked to have the game sealed with ten minutes left only to disintegrate in astonishing fashion as West Ham mounted a stirring comeback.

Manuel Lanzini’s brilliant long-range strike in injury time levelled the scores after Fabian Balbuena’s header began West Ham’s fightback, with Davinson Sanchez’s own goal giving even more hope with five minutes to go.

Bale, on as a substitute in his first appearance since his return to Spurs from Real Madrid, missed a sitter in stoppage time before Lanzini lashed the ball in to cap an incredible climax.
