B/Ball: US Rapper J.Cole To Play Against Rivers Hoopers At BAL

Rivers Hoopers could face a surprise opponent when they get their Basketball Africa League campaign underway on Sunday after reports emerged that US Superstar rapper has signed for Rwanda’s Patriots BBC who Hoopers face in their opening game in Kigali.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Cole, 36, has signed a short-term deal with the Patriots to play three-to-six games at the inaugural BAL.

The first of the games is on Sunday against Nigeria’s representatives Rivers Hoopers.

Cole who just dropped his first single off his upcoming album, The Off-Season, is a huge basketball fan and has often spoken of his hoops dreams.

Last July, the New York native opened up about his basketball aspirations in The Players’ Tribune and rumours later emerged he was pursuing an NBA career following the publication. The whispers were so persistent that the Detroit Pistons extended an offer for Cole to come try out for their team.

Starting off at the BAL with Rwanda’s Patriots could just be the first step to the NBA for Cole.
