AYG Aftermath: Future Of Nigerian Football Is Bright – Mansur

Falconets assistant coach Mansur Abdullahi is certain that the future of Nigerian football is bright despite the loss to Morocco in the final of the African Youth Games (AYG) on Friday.

Nigeria’s U15 team lost 3-1 to Morocco in their final clash at the Sidi Moussa Stadium in Algiers, Algeria and had to settle for silver.

The team had won gold in the last edition of the competition in Gaborone, Botswana two years ago.

Reacting to the loss, Mansur Abdullahi told footballlive.ng that: “We should look beyond the results. We are grooming these boys for the future. Most of them have together since 2016 but every body has been impressed by their ability.”

“The experience that they have gained from this competition will serve them better in the future.” He concluded.

Mansur Abdullahi and the Falconets team are presently on a training tour of Austria ahead of the upcoming FIFA women’s U20 World Cup in France.

Nigeria is in Group D of the tournament scheduled to run from August 5 to 24, 2018.

Other teams in the group include three-time Champions Germany, Haiti and China People’s Republic (China PR).
