Australian ‘Golden Girl’ Cuthbert Is Dead!

The golden girl of Australian Athletics and four-time Olympic gold medallist Betty Cuthbert has died at the age of 79.

She sealed his legendary status after winning three gold medals (100m, 200m and 4x100m relays) at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.

Cuthbert went on to add another gold in the 400m at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

She died in Western Australia on Sunday night after a long and much publicised battle with multiple sclerosis.
