AUDIO: Our Target Is To Win The 2018 CHAN In Morocco – Osas Okoro

Lifting the trophy at the end of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco is the ultimate target of the home-based Super Eagles, that’s according to defender Osas Okoro.

The Rangers International FC right-back, who was an integral part of the team during the last edition of the tournament in Rwanda, has been selected by coach Salisu Yusuf in his final 23-man squad for the CHAN which runs from 13 January to 4 February.

Nigeria battle Rwanda, 2014 champions, Libya and Equatorial Guinea in the group phase of the CHAN as they start their dream of winning the tournament for the first time.

“I think we stayed in camp for three weeks or thereabout and I think the preparation has not been bad,” the 27-year old recounted.

“The few games we played have boosted our morale a little bit, and I believe we will still travel from Nigeria to Morocco where we might have a chance to play one or two friendly games before the tournament proper. And with the preparation for now, I think it will help us a lot in the tournament.

“Our target is to win the trophy, and with the little preparation, I believe we can make Nigeria proud also,” the former Heartland FC player said.

Nigeria’s best out at the CHAN remains a third place finish in 2014 under the tutelage of late Stephen Keshi.

The home-based Eagles failed to progress to the knockout stage of the tournament at the last edition in Rwanda in 2016.
