AUDIO: Ilechukwu Predicts Tough Season for MFM, Targets Top 10 Finish in NPFL

Technical Adviser of Mountain and Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu has predicted tough times for the ‘Olukoya Boys’ ahead of the upcoming season, stating that the team will be targeting a Top 10 finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

MFM, along with champions Plateau United, will fly Nigeria’s flag in next year’s CAF Champions League after finishing in second place in last season’s NPFL, missing out of the league title on the final Match Day, in only their second season in the top flight.

However, Ilechukwu told www.busybuddiesng.com that teams in the NPFL are now aware of the capabilities of his side, and as such, will no longer take them for granted, adding that the departure of striker Stephen Odey and midfielder Oladele Oshobe will make things difficult for his side.

“I know this season (2017/18) is going to be a tough season for MFM FC and we are working to make sure that at the end of it, we will able to make Top 10 in the Nigeria Professional Football League,” he said.

“That’s because last season, people saw MFM as a Church team without knowing that MFM have all it takes to win the league, but this season, any team that wants to play MFM will be fully prepared.

“At the same time, losing Stephen Odey and Oladele Oshobe in midfield, in as much as we have an opportunity to replace them, I know, I believe and I’m feeling it, it’s going to be a tough season for MFM FC,” Ilechukwu stated.

The ‘Olukoya Boys’ are expected to participate in the 2017/18 NPFL season which begins on 14 January; the 2018 CAF Champions League as well as the Aiteo Cup.
