ATP Finals (Pete Sampras Group): Goffin To Face Federer In Semis After Thiem Victory

David Goffin of Belgium has set up a semifinal meeting with tennis legend Roger Federer after he defeated Dominic Thiem in straight sets.

The 7th seed beat his Austrian opponent 6-4, 6-1 at the O2 Arena on Friday and will now face someone he has never beaten in Roger Federer for a place in the Sunday’s final.

He has lost all of his six meetings with the 19-time Grand Slam champion.

Speaking after his win over Thiem, the Belgian said: ”I’ve never found a key to beat Roger.”

”Honestly, I don’t know what to do tomorrow. But I’m going to try something, something different, something that I’ve never done in the past.” he added

In the other group match, Dimitrov saw off Pablo Carreno Busta 6-1, 6-1 to become the first player to win all three round-robin matches on debut since Andy Murray in nine years (2008).
