Atletico Seal Kalinic Signing From Milan

Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have completed the transfer of Croatian international striker Nicola Kalinic from AC Milan.

Kalinic, 30, joins the Rojiblancos from the seven-time European champions after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract in a reported €15m (£13.5m) deal.

He becomes the club’s seventh signing of the summer after France’s World Cup winner Thomas Lemar, Spanish trio Rodri (midfielder), defender Jonny and goalkeeper Antonio Adan, as well as forward Gelson Martins and Colombia defender Santiago Arias.

Nicola Kalinic signed for Italian side AC Milan last summer from Fiorentina and went to leave the club after just a season in which he scored six goals in 41 appearances.

The former Blackburn Rovers star was part of the 23-man Croatia squad to this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

He was expelled from the team after his failure to come on as a substitute in the team’s Group D clash with Nigeria.

Croatia went on to finish runners-up at the tournament and were only beaten by eventual winners France in the July 15 final.
