Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have reached a ‘preliminary agreement’ with French side AS Monaco for the transfer of Thomas Lemar.
The French international forward has been a subject of transfer moves to Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool in the previous windows but it seems his next destination will be in Spain.
The 22-year-old has spent three seasons at Monaco since moving from Caen and is currently with the France national team in Russia for the World Cup, which starts on Thursday.
The transfer agreement was announced by Atletico Madrid via a statement which said that: “Over the next days, both clubs will work to close the agreement for the definitive transfer.”
Thomas Lemar has scored 22 goals in 123 games for his French side and he was influential as he helped the team win Ligue 1 and also reach the Champions League semi-finals in 2016-17.
He has scored 3 goals in 12 international games since he made his France debut in 2016.
