Aston Villa Spending Hits £99m as Egypt’s Trezeguet Completes England Move

Aston Villa have taken their summer spending spree up to £99.25m with the signing of Trezeguet from Kasimpasa.

The newly-promoted Championship side have recruited one of Egypt’s star players from the 2019 African Cup of Nations for £8.75m.

Mahmoud Hassan, known as Trezeguet, has joined subject to a work permit and international clearance.

“We’re really excited to work with ‘Trez’. I’ve watched him a number of times,” Villa boss Dean Smith said.

“He’s the type of wide player that we have been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals.”

The 24-year-old began his club career with Al Ahly in his homeland.

He then impressed enough to earn a move to Anderlecht before leaving the Belgian side last year for Kasimpasa in Turkey.

The Hammers have spent big already this summer with Tyrone Mings signing for £26.5million and Wesley Moraes for £22m.

Their outlay this off-season is now at £99.25m and the midlands club have spent more than any other Premier League side so far.
