Asaba 2018: Semanya Reveals Focus Was On 400m Despite Recordbreaking 800m Feat (Audio)

Controversial South African star Caster Semanya has revealed that her focus was always on the 400m race at the just concluded African Senior Athletics Championship in the Delta State capital of Asaba despite her heroics in the 800m on the last day of proceedings (Sunday).

The two-time Olympic champion clocked a time of 1:56.06s at the Stephen Keshi Stadium to break the 25-year African record which was set by Mozambique legend Maria Mutola at the 1993 African Championships (1:56.36s).

Speaking after winning the race, Semanya, who had won the 400m race a day earlier said: “The focus was on 400m. Today (800m race) was just to see how far we can go after running the 400m (yesterday).”
