Asaba 2018: LOC Apologises Over Hiccups

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the ongoing CAA Senior Athletics Championship in Asaba, Delta State has apologised for the numerous setbacks that have characterised the competition.

The Athletics Championship, which is in its 21st edition, became the centre of focus after international athletes were left stranded by organisers on their arrival at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) on Tuesday.

After the situation was resolved, other problems such as lack of media accreditation for athletes, officials and journalists; rescheduling of several events and many more marred Day 1 of the competition.

The LOC apologised through a statement from its official, Olukayode Thomas.

The statement read: “Dear All, On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee for the 21st African Senior Athletics, I Olukayode Thomas tender an unreserved apology to you all for the hiccups that has greeted the events so far. The media station, distribution of the Start Lists, results and other concerns will all be well taken care of going forward. Please accept the apologies. Thank you.”
