AS Roma Sporting Director Jumps Ship, Set To Join London Club Following di Francesco’s Sack

AS Roma have mutually ended the terms of agreement with its Sporting Director, Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo.

According to reports from La Repubblica, the move could have been as a result of the earlier sacking of the club’s manager, Eusebio di Francesco.

A statement released on the club’s official website read: “AS Roma and sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, more commonly known as Monchi, can confirm that the two parties have reached a mutual agreement to bring an early end to their professional relationship.”

The Spanish transfer guru has been a target of both Arsenal and Manchester United; two clubs seeking an appointment for a director of football.

In his parting statements, Monchi said, “I would like to thank President Pallotta, the club’s management, staff, players and fans for their support during my time at the club,”

“I wish Roma a lot of success in the future,” he added.

Monchi will be reunited with former colleague Unai Emery; the duo working alongside one another in their infamous stint with Sevilla, where he represented the club as a player, the later spending 17 years as Sporting Director before joining the Giallorossi in 2017.
