Arsenal’s FA Cup conquerors, Nottingham Forest, have appointed Aitor Karanka as their new manager on a two and a half year deal.

Managerless Nottingham Forest produced their best performance of the season on Sunday evening under academy manager Gary Brazil after they defeated holders Arsenal 4-2 in their FA Cup third round clash at the City Ground.

Former Middlesbrough manager Karanka had earlier been interviewed for both the West Brom and Swansea City job before his appointment as Nottingham Forest manager as replacement for Mark Warburton who was dismissed from his post last week Sunday.

Aitor Karanka’s first game in charge will be against Aston Villa in an English Championship clash on Saturday.
