Premier League giants Arsenal have signed Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer from Italian Champions Juventus.
The 34-year-old right back becomes the first signing under the new regime of Unai Emery who was named manager last month.
Lichtsteiner made 257 appearances for Juventus in seven years and led the Old Lady to win seven successive Italian Serie A titles.
He also helped the Italians to two UEFA Champions League (UCL) finals before they were beaten by Spanish sides Barcelona (2015) and Real Madrid (2017).
On his acquisition, Unai Emery said: “Stephan brings huge experience and leadership to us. He’s a player with great quality with a very positive and determined attitude,” said Emery.”
“Stephan will improve us on and off the pitch.” he stated.
Lichtsteiner added: “I hope I can bring a lot of experience, a lot of mentality and, together with my team, come back to the highest level of the Champions League.”
